Recently in the basketball community, we’ve lost a lot of people that we hold near and dear to our hearts. Daljang Wol, TJ Hibbert, Makyle Bayley, Tyra Whitehead, Lee Linton-Hodges, Coach David Lavinier, George Oyefeso, Zaki Sanni - the list is expansive and they’re all people who have impacted the basketball world in such positive ways.

Life is precious and amazing, but also unpredictable and very fragile.

The People’s Champion Award aims to give recognition to the people that deserve it - while they’re still around to receive it and accept some of the fruits of their labour.

There will be three winners of the Award this year, all receiving:

- A shiny trophy

- Some fresh new kicks, courtesy of Jordan Brand

- An interview with me, so more people can hear their story.
